This document contains key terms used across the DocStudio documentation.
Terms
Access level
Defines who can find and use a template, dictionary, scenario, or similar object.
Account
A personal or company entity that contains users, mailboxes, settings, and billing.
Account permission
A permission that grants access to account-level actions in the admin area.
Admin panel
The administrative area where Admin manage account settings, users, mailboxes, integrations, and billing.
Advanced Electronic Signature (AES)
A digital signature type supported for signing and validation flows.
AI Assistant
An assistant inside an envelope that answers questions and keeps conversation history.
Application token
A token used for API access instead of an interactive sign-in session.
Approval
An additional review flow that runs alongside the main envelope processing flow.
Approval route
A predefined approval path that defines who reviews an envelope and in what order.
Audit log
A log of account activity used for tracking actions and reviewing changes.
AUTO flow
A processing flow where the system determines recipient order from role types.
Billing plan
A subscription plan that defines available limits and billing behavior.
Bluetooth token
A hardware token used to read or apply an electronic signature through Bluetooth.
Callback
A webhook-style notification sent when an envelope matches configured conditions.
Comment
A discussion entry attached to an envelope for collaboration and clarification.
Conversion rule
A rule that transforms incoming or outgoing files into another structure or format.
Corporate account
An account that uses a verified domain to create and manage corporate users.
Corporate user
A user associated with a verified domain and managed by an account administrator.
Dashboard
From here, you can upload documents and files for e-signature with QuickSend and open recently used templates.
Dictionary
A structured dataset used as a source for selectable values in templates and envelopes.
Domain
A company email domain that can be added, verified, and linked to account access rules.
Dynamic table field
A table field that supports repeatable rows and field logic inside a template.
E-ink signature
A handwritten-style signature placed with a mouse, touchpad, or touch input.
Envelope
The main business object used to send documents through signing, approval, or review flows.
Envelope archive
A downloadable ZIP package that contains signed files and related envelope data.
Envelope ID (UUID)
A unique identifier assigned to a specific envelope.
Envelope metadata
Additional key-value data attached to an envelope through the API.
External document
A file added to an envelope or template from outside the structured editor.
Integration
A configured connection between DocStudio and an external system.
ITN
A tax or identification number used in some account, company, and signature scenarios.
Lookup field
A field that returns dependent values based on a selected dictionary record.
Mailbox
A working entity that sends, receives, stores, and processes envelopes.
Mailbox permission
A permission that grants access to mailbox-level actions in the main application.
OAuth 2.0
An authorization protocol used for SSO and secure app sign-in flows.
Official access level
An access level that exposes an item to all mailboxes through the Official folder.
Password policy
A set of rules for password length, reuse, expiration, and related restrictions.
Personal account
An account created when a user registers a personal account.
Processing flow
The rule set that determines recipient order and document processing behavior.
Public template link
A shareable link that lets users create envelopes from a Publictemplate.
Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)
A signature type with qualified certificate validation and stricter legal requirements.
QuickSend
A dashboard action used to upload documents, files and send it for signing quickly.
Recipient
A participant who receives an envelope and performs a step in the envelope flow.
Role
A participant type in a template or envelope flow, such as sender, signer, approver, or copy.
Scenario
An automation object that creates or transforms envelopes across several steps.
Scenario step
A single stage inside a scenario with source, destination, and optional conditions.
SFTP
A secure file transfer protocol used for integration-based document exchange.
SSO
Single Sign-On. A login method that lets users authenticate through an external identity provider.
Structured template
A template document created in the editor with blocks, fields, tables, and formatting controls.
Template
A reusable document setup that defines files, fields, roles, and flow behavior.
Template editor
The editing interface used to build and configure template documents.
Template version
A specific saved revision of a template used during envelope creation or API requests.
Verified domain
A domain confirmed as belonging to an account and used for corporate user management.
Webhook
An event-driven HTTP notification. In DocStudio, this is exposed as a callback.
X12
An EDI file format that can be converted into XML during import flows.
