# Manual Processing Flow

### Configure role order

1. Enable **Set processing order**.
2. Reorder roles using drag and drop.
3. Alternatively, edit the step number manually.

You can build custom sequences. For example, place **Signer** before **Assignee** if the **Assignee** has no actions in the current document and only uploads other documents.

### Role order restrictions

1. **Assignee** cannot be placed after the first **Signer**.
2. **Signer** cannot be placed before the last **Assignee**.
3. **Copy** can be placed anywhere, but the step number must be **1** or higher.

If your template has external documents with e-ink signatures, place document uploader roles before roles that sign those documents.
