Review Process Editor

This document explains how to open and edit a document in the Review editor. It also explains which actions you can use during the review process.

Open a document for review

  1. Open Review in the sidebar.

  2. Find the review process you need.

  3. Select the process from the list.

DocStudio opens the document in the Review editor. Your role and status determine which actions you can use.

Review editor

Use the Review editor to work on the document together with other participants. You can:

  • edit the document

  • add comments

  • reply in discussion threads

  • accept or reject tracked changes

DocStudio shows changes and participant cursors in real time, so everyone can work on the document simultaneously. Change tracking turns on automatically, and you cannot turn it off.

  • Reviewer — Accept or reject individual changes.

  • Initiator — Accept or reject all changes at once.

Review panel

Use the Review panel to check the process details and track each participant.

The panel contains:

  • process status

  • subject

  • document name

  • initiator

  • reviewers

  • participant names, avatars, and statuses

  • collapse the panel button

DocStudio does not use separate access levels for review participants. Everyone can edit the document at the start, and your participant status controls whether you can edit or only view it.

Use the arrow on the left edge of the Review panel to collapse or expand it. The panel is expanded by default when you are the initiator and collapsed when you are a reviewer.

Description

In review

The review process continues, and you can work on the document while your participant status allows editing.

Completed

The review ends successfully, and everyone can only view the document. If you start the process, you can return it for rework, download the final document, or open Quick send.

Rejected

The initiator ends the review, and everyone can only view the document. If you start the process, you can return it for rework, but you cannot send the document for signing.

Invite reviewers

Any participant with the required permission can invite reviewers while the process is In review.

  1. Click Invite.

  2. Select a DocStudio mailbox or enter an email address.

  3. Enter a role name for the reviewer. — (Repeat steps 2–3 to add more reviewers.)

  4. Click Save.

DocStudio adds reviewers selected by mailbox directly to the current process. Reviewers invited by email receive an invitation and choose a mailbox when they accept it.

Reviewer actions

Ready to sign

Use Ready to sign when you finish reviewing the document and have no remaining comments or changes.

  1. Click Ready to sign.

  2. Click Confirm in the confirmation window.

After you confirm the action, DocStudio changes your status to Ready to sign and opens the document in read-only mode.

The action buttons disappear, and the initiator receives a notification.

Reject the review

Use Reject when you want to leave the review process. The initiator can still finish the review without your decision.

  1. Click Reject.

  2. Enter a comment explaining your decision.

  3. Click Reject.

After you reject the review, DocStudio changes your status to Rejected and opens the document in read-only mode.

You can no longer edit the document or add comments, and the initiator receives a notification.

Initiator actions

Finish the review

Use Finish after you process all tracked changes and resolve all comments. Reviewer statuses do not prevent you from finishing the review.

  1. Click Finish.

  2. In the confirmation window, click Finish.

DocStudio disables Finish while the document contains unresolved tracked changes or open comments and shows how many items remain.

After you finish the review, DocStudio changes the process status to Completed and opens the document in read-only mode. DocStudio replaces Finish and Reject with Download document and Send.

Reject the review process

Use Reject to end the review process without sending the document. You can return the rejected review for rework later.

  1. Click Reject.

  2. Enter a comment explaining your decision.

  3. Click Reject.

After you reject the review, DocStudio changes the process status to Rejected, opens the document in read-only mode, and notifies all participants.

You cannot send the document for signing.

Return for rework

If you start the review process, you can return it for rework after you finish or reject it. DocStudio keeps the same document, comments, and change history.

  1. Click Rework.

  2. Review the confirmation message.

  3. Click Rework.

You can return a review for rework any number of times.

If you already created a signing envelope through Quick send, returning the review for rework does not affect that envelope.

Use a completed review

  • Rework — Return the document to the review process and allow all participants to continue editing it.

  • Download document — Download the final document in DOCX format.

  • Send — Open Quick send. DocStudio adds the final DOCX and review subject automatically.

  • Back to the list — Return to the Review page.

Add signers and configure the signing route if needed. DocStudio keeps the completed review in Review and opens it in read-only mode after you create the signing envelope.
